Kirstie Alley was born on January 12, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. She grew up in a middle-class family with two sisters and one brother. She attended Wichita South High School, where she participated in both theater productions and track and field. In 1969, Alley graduated from high school and shortly after moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Kirstie Alley’s big break happened in 1982 when she was cast on NBC’s comedy series Cheers as Rebecca Howe. Alley’s portrayal of the strong, independent businesswoman earned her countless awards, including two Emmys and two Golden Globes. Following the success of Cheers, she also starred in a number of hit movies such as Look Who's Talking, Look Who's Talking Too, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and It Takes Two.
In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Kirstie Alley was also heavily involved in philanthropy. She founded the Kirstie Alley Foundation, which has raised over $6 million for organizations dedicated to feeding America’s hungry.
